Wellness Ministry

MISSION STATEMENT

“The mission of the Immaculate Conception Parish Wellness Ministry is rooted in respect for the dignity of every human life.  We strive to promote awareness of the connection between faith and health and to enhance the integrity of body, mind and spirit for members of our community by providing support, education and screening activities.”

What is a wellness ministry?

Following the example of Jesus’ healing ministry, a wellness ministry addresses the health of the whole person - - body, mind and spirit.  The group is made up of parish nurses, physicians, other medical/dental professionals and even non-medical parishioners working together to promote an understanding of the relationship between lifestyle, faith and well-being.  Activities are designed to empower individuals and families in the parish community to become more active participants in the management of their health.   In this age of overburdened health care systems, our health promotion activities can help fill the gaps in health education and support.

Upcoming Events

Free blood pressure screenings are done monthly by members of the Wellness Ministry in the gym after the 8:00 and 10:00 masses on coffee-and-donut Sunday.

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry provides the opportunity for junior high school students to grow in their love for God and be involved as a vital part of the parish through spiritual, service, and social activities. Parish adults are needed to be a part of this ministry in making a difference in our children’s lives. Responsibilities include planning, guiding, and encouraging the students in the various activities.
